Hastings District Council has announced the appointment of Michael Fowler as the Council’s new Deputy Mayor.
Hastings Mayor-elect, Wendy Schollum said Mr Fowler’s experience as a chartered accountant and chair of the last triennium’s Performance and Monitoring Committee, which successfully identified savings across Council’s budget, meant he would be well placed to carry on that work as Councillors focus on fiscal responsibility.
“I’m very pleased to have Michael in this role. He has a level head, is a team player and we have complementary skills; all qualities that will be important as we bring the new Council team together and get underway with the work plan,” she said.
The appointment follows the process set out in the Local Government Act, and will be formalised at the first Hastings District Council meeting of the triennium, on November 11.
