Big opening for small operators

More than 150km of drain maintenance will be carried out in Te Hiku this year, and the Far North District Council is seeking experienced drainage contractors to carry out the work.

The Council says the project is “ideal for smaller and one-man band operators” who will work alongside the council on its spraying programme.

The drainage maintenance programme aims to spray 153.7km throughout the Te Hiku ward to ensure channels remain clear and free flowing. The drainage work takes place twice a year using pre-approved herbicides.

If you are interested in this work, email Council’s project office for a copy of the expression of interest and response forms. Expressions of interest close at 4pm on Monday 11 March.
