Associate Commerce Commissioners named

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) has announced the appointment of Bryan Chapple and Nathan Strong as Associate Commissioners at the Commerce Commission.

“These appointments will take effect on 29 August 2022,” said MBIE General Manager Small Business, Commerce and Consumer Policy, Andrew Hume.

Mr Chapple is currently Deputy Secretary at the Treasury, and previously held several senior roles at MBIE and its predecessor agency, the Ministry of Economic Development (MED).

Mr Strong is currently General Manager (Commercial) at Unison Networks, and prior to that headed up Unison’s Regulation and Pricing function. He also brings various board and governance experience in the electricity sector, Mr Hume said.

The Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs appoints Associate Commissioners for their knowledge of, and experience in, areas relevant to the Commission’s interests, the Ministry said in a statement.

The appointments are for a term of five years, ending 27 August 2027.
