Residents connected to Far North District Council’s Ōmanaia–Rāwene water supply are being asked to continue conserving water until further notice.
Yesterday, the call went out for people to reduce the amount of water they were using, after a break in a mains pipe at the intersection of Parnell Street and Mariner Street. While the break has now been repaired, Council says storage levels in the Rāwene reservoir still need some boosting.
“The section of Parnell Street which had slumped at the site of the mains break has been scheduled for repair. Until work is completed, Parnell Street will be restricted to one lane with a give way system in place along with a 30km speed limit,” Council said.
The break has seen storage levels in the Rāwene reservoir plummet to less than 15%.
The Council says the Hokianga Health hospital has not been affected by the mains break.
