The official opening of the Osmanthus Gardens Lantern Festival, set to take place this Sunday, April 12, has been delayed a day, Hastings District Council has announced.
With Cyclone Vaianu approaching and set to potentially bring high winds and heavy rain to the district on Sunday, the decision has been made to shift the opening to a day later for public safety, the Council said in a statement.
Weather permitting, the official opening ceremony will take place on Monday, April 13 at 5.45pm, ahead of gates opening at 6pm.
From Monday, the festival will run from 6pm to 9pm each night until Sunday, April 19.
