Politics around Treaty Principles and Te Tiriti o Waitangi’s application is a hot topic at the moment. The Prime Minister is clear this Government will honour Te Tiriti, and public servants will continue to require the knowledge and confidence for engaging with Māori.
Join Hāpai Public for a two day in person workshop where participants will build a foundation of historical and cultural knowledge that they use to inform their planning for engagement with Māori.
As part of this workshop participants will:
– Develop a better understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Treaty settlements and Treaty Principles – the legislative requirements and obligation – and what this means for government agencies.
– Improve their understanding of the role of Te Tiriti in New Zealand’s Constitution, and Government obligations under Te Tiriti.
– Build their knowledge and gain practical skills for engaging with Māori, including when and where to start as well as the spectrum of engagement.
– Explore Te Tiriti based approaches to working.
This event is being held in person and will not be live streamed.
