The New Zealand Disability Employers’ Network(opens in a new tab) in collaboration with Whaikaha | Ministry of Disabled People(opens in a new tab) and We Enable Us | Mā mātau anō mātau e whakamana(opens in a new tab), are proud to host the inaugural ‘Advancing Disability Inclusion in the Public Sector’ Working Session on Thursday 17th July, as an extension of the main conference.
The working session
An opportunity for public sector disabled communities, leaders and professionals to come together and discuss the disability value proposition.
- Get to know the benefits of supporting disabled people to be their best selves at work, why organisations perform better and the positive impact of disabled communities who fully participate in society.
- Understand the context, levers to influence, and how we can contribute together to make a systemic change that improves the lives of disabled communities in Aotearoa New Zealand.

- Closed session: This is a closed session for New Zealand public sector only.
Who should attend
Disabled, Deaf and Neurodiverse public sector and local government professionals. Senior leaders, managers and professionals within the public sector and local government wanting to learn more about the value of disabled people in their organisations, and tools to increase the number of disabled people in their workforce.

- Learn from thought leaders and real-life best practice on reasonable accommodation policy, universal design in the built environment, and accessible employment practices.
- Update on the latest disability data from the NZ Household Disability Survey and Te Taunaki Public Service Census 2025.
- Practical tools to support organisations – employment toolkit and recruitment guidelines on accessibility, and alternate formats.
