One of Far North District Council’s longest-serving senior leaders is leaving to take up a new role as CEO at South Wairarapa District Council.
Janice Smith (pictured), Group Manager for Corporate Services at the Far North District Council, has worked at the council for 18 years, since moving here from Leicester in the United Kingdom.
She says the opportunity to move closer to her Wellington-based daughter and grandchildren was a major plus in her decision to accept the new role.
Ms Smith has more than 40 years’ experience in local government in both the UK and Aotearoa and is a fully qualified accountant.
Her last day with Far North District Council will be on 3 November.
