Nelson City Councillor, Brian McGurk, has announced he will not stand in this year’s election, ending a three-term run.
Councillor McGurk joined Nelson City Council in 2018, following more than a decade with NZ Police, where he held senior command roles both here and overseas.
Cr McGurk is the fifth member of the city’s 13-person council to announce they will be stepping down this year.
Nominations for local body candidates opened last Friday, and will close on 12 August.
