Final surfacing work set for SH2 / Ōmokoroa Rd roundabout

Western Bay of Plenty District Council has advised surfacing work at the State Highway 2 / Ōmokoroa Road roundabout is scheduled to begin on Sunday night, completing the remaining work at the intersection.

Work will take place overnight from 6pm to 6am on Sunday 1 November and Monday 2 November, with line marking planned for Wednesday 4 November, weather permitting.

Reduced speed limits and stop/go traffic management will be in place on all approaches to the roundabout during this work. The Council says drivers should expect delays and allow extra time for their journeys.

The full State Highway 2 / Ōmokoroa Road intersection project was completed in April this year, but the final asphalt layer was deferred until spring to allow for more suitable conditions to apply the specialised skid-resistant surface.

All temporary speed restrictions and traffic management will be removed once the work is complete next week, with the permanent speed limit through the roundabout set at 100km/h.
