Tradespeople and other associated service providers can now work on flood damaged properties under Alert Level 4, Buller District Council recovery manager, Bob Dickson, announced today.
“We are pleased regulations have been put in place to allow this to happen. It will help us to keep the repair of damaged homes on track throughout changes to COVID alert levels,” Mr Dickson said.
He said the exemption applied to unoccupied red or yellow (placard) homes under the Building Act in Westport and the surrounding area.
Those tradespeople and other service providers wishing to access flood damaged homes will have to register with the Council.
“The exemption applies to tradespeople such as builders, electricians, plumbers and carpet layers as well as businesses such as hardware, plumbing and electrical suppliers,” Mr Dickson said.
