Hamilton Council building reopens following bomb threat

Hamilton City Council’s Municipal Building has re-opened following a bomb scare overnight.

In a statement, Council said a police explosive detection dog has completed a thorough search and given the building the all clear for staff to return to.

Overnight, Council had been notified of a bomb threat sent to police via an anonymous email involving the Municipal Building. The threat was described by police as ‘low threat’ at the time.

A Police investigation into the source of the email is ongoing.
