Hamilton City Council recently celebrated the graduation of 20 staff from its new leadership programme for existing and emerging leaders.
Council CEO, Lance Vervoort says the programme was introduced as part of his goal to further enhance leadership capability and optimise performance across the organisation.
“Leadership is the backbone of any organisation,” said Mr Vervoort.
“At Hamilton City Council, we have a very bold and ambitious mission – to become the leading community-focused Council. I absolutely know this mission can only be achieved if we have bold and ambitious leaders as the driving force of our organisation.Â
“Leadership is a journey – and one that never ends. Leadership takes different twists and turns, some which can be controlled and some that can’t. But no matter what the direction, one thing in good leadership remains consistent – the need for the right mindset and the ambition to grow and expand knowledge, capabilities and confidence.Â
“Hamilton City Council has some outstanding leaders – leaders who are more than managers and technical experts, leaders that challenge, inspire and empower our great staff.”
Mr Vervoort says he looks forward to watching more Council employees continue on their leadership journey and to welcoming a new intake in the 2024 programme.
