An investigation is under way following the discovery of human remains at a beach in Waihau Bay, Ōpōtiki, yesterday.
Police say they were notified of the discovery at around 11:50am on Friday.
“The remains have been identified as human, and enquiries will determine how old these remains are. This will be followed by a formal identification process, which may take some time,” Police said in a statement.
