Interim chief executive appointed to Central Hawke’s Bay council

Central Hawke’s Bay District Council has announced the appointment of Hawke’s Bay Regional Recovery Agency Chief Executive, Ross McLeod, as the interim leader for the organisation.

Mayor Will Foley said Mr McLeod had a strong working knowledge of the Hawke’s Bay region, its communities, economy and infrastructure.

“He has a range of local government, and policy and programme delivery experience in provincial and urban contexts in New Zealand and Australia,” said the Mayor.

He said the Council needed someone in the interim role to provide steady leadership for the team.

“Our recruitment process for a permanent Chief Executive is about to kick off. Ross’s leadership means we can run a good process, comfortable in the knowledge that work across Council’s many projects, initiatives and deliverables will continue smoothly.”

“Council has a lot going on and we’re approaching some critical points on a number of local and regional initiatives. A continuation of the experienced leadership that we have had to date will keep us safely on track.”

Mr McLeod was previously the Chief Executive of Hastings District Council and General Manager (CEO) of Waverley Council in New South Wales, Australia.

Current Chief Executive, Doug Tate, announced his resignation in December last year to take up the Chief Executive role with Whanganui District Council. His last day with the Council was Monday.
