Kaipara council announces community project funding

Kaipara District Council has awarded a total of $100,000 to 25 local organisations through its 2025 Community Grant programme.

The contestable fund supports events, services and one-off initiatives that deliver lasting benefits to communities across Kaipara, from operational expenses to new projects that foster wellbeing, education, recreation and social connection.

Ruawai Community Sports Club received a $10,000 grant to support construction costs for an accessible public toilet.

Ruawai Community Sports Club Funding Committee Member, Amanda Bennett said the current toilet facilities (female and male) at the club were not accessible to all people in the community.

“The Ruawai Community Sports Club remains an integral part of the Ruawai community, fostering connections, supporting local initiatives, and providing a space where people can come together to grow, achieve, and thrive,” she said.

Te Kopuru Community Trust received $3,900 towards purchasing and installing a commercial-grade water filtration system at the Te Kopuru Community Hall. Northern Wairoa Genealogy Society Inc received $3,000 towards purchasing three high-performance desktop computers and genealogy software licenses for its research centre.
