LGNZ 2021 Conference: ‘Reimagining Aotearoa – from community up’

The Local Government New Zealand (LGNZ) 2021 conference will be held in Blenheim next month.

The theme for this year’s LGNZ Conference is ‘Reimagining Aotearoa – from community up’.

“We’ve been thinking hard about our conference programme in the wake of all the change facing local government at the moment, and we believe our conference needs to reflect what’s top of mind for the sector, and right now that’s reform – three waters, resource management and Future for Local Government,” said LGNZ President, Stuart Crosby.

“This once in a generation reform programme creates both uncertainty but also opportunity – our chance to help shape a new kind of local government to support stronger, more resilient communities.

“So, we’ve made some changes to the programme to reflect what’s happening now. It’s meant starting with the future and making space for a plenary session exploring the three waters reform’s state of play, as well as interactive sessions to hear your voices.”

Mr Crosby said the Future for Local Government panel will be in attendance, along with key Ministers.

“Our networking opportunities will once again be a key feature of conference and, together with our platinum sponsors, I look forward to welcoming you to the Simpson Grierson welcome reception.”

“The annual Fulton Hogan conference dinner will again be home to the LGNZ EXCELLENCE Awards where we will celebrate the success of finalists and winners who have demonstrated excellent performance by councils in promoting and growing the well-being of their communities.”

The conference will be held at the ASB Theatre and Marlborough Events Centre in Waiharakeke Blenheim, 15-17 July.

“I look forward to seeing you all at conference,” Mr Crosby said.
