Nadine Taylor has been re-elected Marlborough District Council Mayor for a further three-year term.
With special votes still to be counted, progress results on Saturday show Mayor Taylor the clear winner, the Council said in a statement today.
In the Blenheim Ward, 16 candidates were standing for seven vacancies. The successful candidates are David Croad, Cyril Dawson, Brian Dawson, Deborah Dalliessi, Thelma Sowman and John Hyndman.
Council says the seventh position – between Benjamin Stace and Tamsin Cooper – is too close to call at this point.
Barbara Faulls, Raylene Innes and Malcolm Taylor were the successful candidates in the Marlborough Sounds Ward.
Marlborough residents also voted to remove the Māori Ward, which will take effect from the next elections in 2028.
Preliminary results will be available tomorrow with the full and final result expected to be announced on Thursday.
There was no election in the Wairau-Awatere Ward with three candidates nominated for the three positions – Gerald Hope, Sally Arbuckle and Scott Adams.
Allanah Burgess was elected unopposed for the Marlborough Māori Ward.
