Minister for Trade and Agriculture, Todd McClay has congratulated World Trade Organization – WTO Director-General, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, on her reappointment to the role.
“Dr Ngozi is extremely passionate about trade and has done an important job at the WTO during her first term,” said Minister McClay.
“It was a pleasure to work beside her earlier this year as a Vice Chair of the WTO Ministerial meeting in Abu Dhabi and I look forward to further accomplishments together.
“80% of NZ goods exports come from our primary sector and 1-in-4 jobs rely upon exports. Companies that export pay their workers more and are more profitable.
“The WTO remains an important rules-based institution for New Zealand,” he said.
