Ministry for Women congratulates CSW67 delegate

Manatū Wāhine Ministry for Women has congratulated Norie Ape on her selection as the non-governmental delegate to join the official NZ Government delegation to the 67th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW67). 

CSW is held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York each year. It is recognised as the highest-level international forum on gender equality and women’s empowerment.

It will be the first in-person delegation from New Zealand to CSW since 2019 and will host discussions on:

  • Priority theme: Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls
  • Review theme: Challenges and opportunities in achieving gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls (agreed conclusions of the sixty-second session)

Ms Ape is a Samoan born, Auckland raised, Digital Product Manager at Te Pūkenga, focussing on utilising technology to enable better outcomes in vocational education in New Zealand with priority groups including Māori, Pasifika and disabled learners. 

She has experience in the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors and is passionate about increasing the number of Pasifika and Māori Women in Tech. 

Ms Ape will provide the government delegation with high-level advice on the themes and liaise with non-governmental organisations across Aotearoa.
