Nerdvana 2025 celebrates geek culture in Hastings

Hastings Libraries has announced Nerdvana 2025, a four-day celebration of geek culture exclusively for adults (18+), will be returning to Hastings War Memorial Library from 1 to 4 May.

An annual event, the unique offering is packed with activities designed to immerse attendees in the worlds of science fiction, fantasy, gaming, and creativity.

Throughout the festival, attendees can enjoy a variety of interactive events. Highlights include tabletop role-playing games like The Witch is Dead and Adventures in Ankh-Morpork, an insightful talk on human health in space by science communicator Ryn Yee, and an escape room challenge hosted by Beyond the Box.

Saturday night, 3 May, features a lively Board Games and Pizza session followed by the thrilling social deduction game, Blood on the Clocktower. On Sunday, 4 May, writers can join the Geek Out Write-In, a quiet space to focus on creative projects, while others can participate in Nepenthe: A Sci-Fi LARP Adventure, an interactive live-action role-play experience set in a futuristic world.

Learning and discovery librarian, Li Ashfield said that while the libraries had plenty of nerdy fun activities for all ages throughout the year, this one was especially for adults.

“Nerdvana is designed to foster connections among adults who share a passion for geek culture – come and join us and celebrate your inner geek at Nerdvana 2025!”

Spaces for many events are limited, so early registration is encouraged. For more information or to book your spot, visit Hastings Libraries or check their website.
