The five Department of Conservation (DOC) rangers based at Reefton haved moved into a brand new base.
DOC Greymouth Acting Operations Manager, Darrell Haworth it was great to get the new build completed and staff moved in.
“The project was on the books for the past two years, but the effects of the pandemic slowed progress,” said Mr Haworth.
“The new office is a kitset building supplied and erected by John Bougen. The design and open plan layout make for a perfect field office and it’s a great asset for the Reefton team.”
Reefton is a key work site for DOC, says Mr Haworth.
“The field team looks after Victoria Conservation Park, the largest conservation park in the country. Then there’s Waiuta, which is a key heritage site, as well as supporting the St James Walkway and the Lewis Pass National Reserve,” he said.
