A new café is opening at the Dunedin Botanic Garden, Dunedin City Council has confirmed.
The Council said the Dunedin Botanic Garden team has worked closely with the owners of ADJO café, Caitlin Holloway and Jonas Hansen, whose new operation will be called ‘Aster’.
Following a soft opening last Thursday, Aster officially opened to the public on Saturday.
“We look forward to having an awesome hospitality business open at our much-loved Dunedin Botanic Garden,” said Council Group Manager Parks and Recreation, Heath Ellis.
“We took the opportunity to refurbish the site following the closure of the previous café in mid-2025. The new design breathes a fresh, modern life into the space while complementing its surrounds.
“We are excited to have secured an experienced and innovative food and beverage hospitality provider that can cater to a diverse audience, including tourists, families, students and many other members of our community.
“We are confident the café owners will provide a great dining experience for our visitors. We believe the café will be a bright, warm and welcoming atmosphere for all.”
