Kaipara District Council has announced the appointment of Jazz Singh as its new chief executive.
Mr Singh (pictured) brings extensive local government experience in senior roles across policy, finance and strategy. As chief of staff in the Office of the Mayor at Auckland Council, he led policy development, central government engagement, and delivery of strategic planning processes, and played a pivotal role in delivering organisational reform and the establishment of the Auckland Future Fund.
He is also an experienced solicitor and previously worked as general legal counsel (acting) at Auckland Council.
Mayor, Jonathan Larsen said Mr Singh’s wealth of experience and his commitment to taking Kaipara forward made him the best choice for the role.
“Jazz Singh comes with significant experience across many facets of local government having worked across policy, procurement, fiscal management and organisational strategy. He knows his way around complex reform. I think together we will achieve great things for our district and I am excited to begin working with Mr Singh,” said Mayor Larsen.
“We have a busy road ahead of us with multiple local government reforms happening at pace – Mr Singh will bring a fresh perspective and is the right person to lead our organisation.”
Mayor Larsen also acknowledged Interim Chief Executive, Michael Day, for his service in the role over the past three months.
“I want to thank Mr Day for stepping up and leading the organisation until we could get a permanent chief executive appointment in place. We are grateful for his support and leadership during this time.”
Mr Singh will start in the role on 8 June 2026.
“I am keen to get started and deliver positive outcomes for the ratepayers and residents of the district,” Mr Singh said.
