New interim CEO for Hawke’s Bay council

Experienced local government senior executive, Bill Bayfield, will step into the role of interim Chief Executive of Hawke’s Bay Regional Council from 29 April.

Mr Bayfield was formerly Chief Executive of Canterbury Regional Council (Environment Canterbury) and also Bay of Plenty Regional Council.

He will take over from Pieri Munro, who has been acting in the role and will now return to his role as Te Pou Whakarae Māori Partnerships Group Manager.

Council Chair, Hinewai Ormsby, welcomed Mr Bayfield in a statement today.

“His wealth of national and regional sector experience will benefit the Hawke’s Bay Regional Council and the region during this immediate recovery phase,” she said.

Mr Bayfield said he was looking forward to the new role.

“I am so pleased to be able to offer my skills and capability to support the Council and its staff in this critical recovery phase,” he said.

“If my knowledge and experience can be of assistance in these challenging times for Hawke’s Bay then I am keen to make them available.”
