Brett Waterhouse has been elected to the Maketu Community Board, following a by-election that closed at midday today, Western Bay of Plenty District Council has announced.
Mr Waterhouse received 180 votes, ahead of Susan (Huhana) Smith, who received 86 votes.
The voter return for this by-election was 28.37 per cent (267 votes).
A by-election was called for the Maketu Community Board after the board’s previous chairperson, Laura Rae, was elected to the Council as a Maketu-Te Puke Ward Councillor.
