After nearly 11 years leading New Zealand’s Government procurement and property reforms, John Ivil is moving on from his role as General Manager of New Zealand Government Procurement and Property (NZGPP) at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE).
In a statement, MBIE said that with Mr Ivil at the helm, NZGPP had revolutionised government procurement in New Zealand.
“John was instrumental in the introduction of the procurement graduate programme and establishing All-of-Government contracts. New Zealand is now ranked #1 in the world in government procurement,” the Ministry said.
Mr Ivil will depart his role at the end of October, but will continue to serve as a specialist advisor on some of NZGPP’s core strategic procurement and assurance services, on a part-time basis.
He will also continue as Chair of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Working Party of the Leading Practitioners on Public Procurement (LPP).
MBIE will commence the recruitment process for a permanent General Manager shortly.
