NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi will be rolling out its first mobile safety camera this week.
From 1 July, the Agency will be responsible for all safety cameras and New Zealand Police will no longer operate mobile safety camera vans. Police officers will continue to issue notices for the offences they detect, NZTA outlined in a statement.
“A camera equipped SUV will be parking up on roadsides across Auckland and detecting speeding from 13 May,” it stated.
“It’ll be joined in the coming months by other SUVs and trailers as we expand our mobile camera operations across the country.
“Like NZ Police our mobile safety cameras won’t have signs or branding. They also won’t be hidden.”
