New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) has signed an Enhanced Partnership for Growth with Enterprise Singapore, Singapore’s trade and enterprise development agency.
The new three-year arrangement is a continuation of an agreement first signed in 2019 that aims to deepen collaboration and promote business ties between the two nations.
The agreement will focus on growing cooperation in two key areas – Trade and Connectivity and Technology and Innovation. NZTE and Enterprise Singapore are exploring a range of activities including joint industry events, hosting business delegations and B2B exchanges.
Signed between NZTE Chief Executive, Peter Chrisp and Enterprise Singapore’s Managing Director, Cindy Khoo, the agreement was exchanged during a ceremony at NZTE’s office in Auckland yesterday with representatives of Enterprise Singapore. The ceremony was part of a series of events taking place during the visit of Singapore Prime Minister, Lawrence Wong, to New Zealand this week to launch the new Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) and mark 60 years of relations between New Zealand and Singapore.
“We are pleased to sign an Enhanced Partnership for Growth with Enterprise Singapore,” said Mr Chrisp.
“The new arrangement builds on our existing strong collaboration and supports export companies from both countries to deepen economic and business links.
“Through this agreement companies will be encouraged to expand operations, build market knowledge, exchange expertise and develop business networks and connectivity. Most importantly, this also represents best practice sharing between the two organisations,” he said.
Ms Khoo said Singapore and New Zealand businesses have built strong collaborations over the years, drawing on shared interests and respective strengths.
“Building on this positive relationship, we hope to take our commercial collaborations further under this latest renewal of partnership to continue deepening joint opportunities in trade facilitation, connectivity, and innovation,” she said.
“I look forward to working with our New Zealand counterparts to achieve these objectives.”
Singapore is New Zealand’s top trading partner in Southeast Asia and fourth largest globally. In the year ended June 2025, two-way trade reached NZ$11 billion, an increase of more than 90% since 2019. High quality, safe food and beverage makes up the majority of New Zealand’s exports to Singapore which imports 90% of its food. Other growth sectors include HealthTech, CleanTech and FoodTech.
In addition to the signing, NZTE hosted a delegation of key Singaporean supply chain businesses this week to promote and strengthen business ties. The visiting delegation was able to connect with a range of New Zealand businesses during the week, including WineWorks, The Homegrown Juice Company and Scales Corporation.
