O’Connor elected unopposed for Northern Wellington Ward

Independent candidate, Greg O’Connor, has been elected unopposed in the by-election to fill the vacancy in Wellington City Council’s Takapū/Northern General Ward.

The Council received one nomination during the Takapū/Northern General Ward by-election nominations period, from Mr O’Connor (pictured).

As of noon today (1 October), nominations have closed and the number of nominations received did not exceed the number of vacancies. Mr O’Connor has therefore been declared elected unopposed as Councillor for the Takapū/Northern General Ward, the Council confirmed in a statement.

The seat, one of three in the ward, was vacated following the passing of Councillor Tony Randle in August this year.

Mr O’Connor will be sworn-in as a City Councillor at Te Kaunihera o Pōneke Council meeting on 22 October.
