Rotorua Lakes Council has taken a major step in its digital transformation journey by migrating from traditional on-premise IT systems to TechnologyOne’s cloud-based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform.
The Council recently completed its migration to TechnologyOne’s industry leading SaaS One Council Connected Intelligent Anywhere (CiA) solution.
The transition streamlines essential council functions including finance, billing, procurement, project management, risk and compliance, and supply chain operations – onto a single, modern One Council platform.
As part of the initial move the Council introduced TechnologyOne’s Property & Rating (P&R), providing residents with 24/7 online self-service to lodge service requests, request LIMs and property files, and make payments with further capabilities such as application and search lodgement, animal registration and more being rolled out, making it easier to access council services at any time.
By adopting SaaS One Council, Rotorua Lakes Council shifts the responsibility for platform security, maintenance, and upgrades to TechnologyOne. This allows council IT resources to focus on enhancing accessibility, responsiveness, and transparency for the community.
Council Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Moraes said, “Moving to the latest CiA OneCouncil capabilities is a strategic shift for Rotorua’s future. It ensures our systems remain modern and adaptable, meeting the evolving needs of our growing community. This user-friendly platform will improve access, efficiency, and security for our 78,000 residents. As technology advances, our investment in OneCouncil enables us to innovate without the constraints of outdated infrastructure, keeping our city resilient and future ready.”
A recent report commissioned by TechnologyOne and conducted by IBRS found that standardised, efficient operations enable council staff to focus more on citizen needs, further supporting Rotorua’s commitment to service excellence.
Ben Malpass, Executive Vice President for Local Government at TechnologyOne said, “Our partnership with Rotorua Lakes Council’s digital transformation demonstrates a strong commitment to innovation for the benefit of their community. SaaS-enabled solutions are revolutionising how local governments interact with residents, providing flexible, accessible services and Rotorua’s leadership in this focus is truly impressive.”
