Auckland Council has appointed Vicki Salmon as chair of the board for its council-controlled organisation, Tātaki Auckland Unlimited.
Councillor Daniel Newman represented the Performance and Appointments Committee on the interview panel and welcomed the new appointment.
“Vicki impressed the panel with her experience leading organisations through change in a positive and constructive way,” he said.
“She has a strong grasp of the issues the organisation is facing and we expect that under her leadership Tātaki Auckland Unlimited will be in good shape to make progress on the key priorities set by the council.
“We were lucky to have several strong candidates to consider and look forward to seeing Vicki’s contribution to the council group.
“I also give my thanks on behalf of the committee to deputy chair Jennah Wootten who has been acting chair since September 2022. Jennah took on the acting role in very challenging circumstances and has performed the role well with a great deal of diligence.”
Ms Salmon’s appointment was approved by the Performance and Appointments Committee in March. The committee is responsible for all appointments to the boards of council-controlled organisations, in accordance with the council’s Appointment and Remuneration Policy for Board Members and the Local Government Act.
Ms Salmon is an experienced business manager in governance and leadership with a background as CEO and a director in both the private and public sector in New Zealand and Australia.
She has been a trustee for the Eden Park Trust, CEO and director of publicly listed Restaurant Brands and Group Rentals, and a director of Auckland District Health Board (ADHB).
