The Doubtless Bay Sea Scouts organisation is seeking a new 15-year ground lease to extend its existing use of Taipa Recreation Reserve.
The troop has been based at the site since 1991, but has served the local community for more than 80 years. It operates under the Scouts Aotearoa umbrella and remains a very popular organisation for young people in the area. It aims to empower individuals aged 5 to 26 to lead impactful lives, fostering development in physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental aspects within a safe and nurturing environment.
Under the Reserves Act, Far North District Council must notify the public of any proposal to lease a Recreation Reserve and seek feedback before making a decision.
Community members are encouraged to share their thoughts on the proposal by Tuesday 12 December 2023.
