Western Bay Libraries tap into new app

Western Bay Libraries has launched an updated version of its library app, making it simpler and more accessible for people to borrow books, tap into digital resources and stay connected with library services.

While people can still create book lists, track their reading, and share reviews as they did before, the new-look version introduces a refreshed design, improved navigation, and several new features aimed at enhancing the overall user experience.

A key improvement is a new accessibility feature that allows users to adjust display settings, including the option to select a typeface designed to make reading easier for people with dyslexia.

The updated app also includes dynamic ‘book river’ displays, quick links to make library room bookings, and dedicated sections for events and ‘What’s On’. Library app users will also benefit from an update banner, highlighting important information, such as library closures.

Alongside these updates, the app continues to provide access to a wide range of digital resources, including international newspapers and magazines, offering members even more ways to stay informed and entertained.

“We’re excited to offer a simpler, more accessible way for our community to connect with everything the library has to offer,” says Western Bay of Plenty District Council Customer Service Manager, Valeta Duncan.

“Libraries are about much more than books, and this app makes it easier for people to discover everything we have on offer – from events and programmes to e-books and online resources. We can’t wait for our community to explore it.”

The refreshed app is now available to download or update at Google Play or the Apple App Store by searching ‘Western Bay Libraries’.
