Whangarei District Council has become one of the first adopters of TechnologyOne’s Digital Experience Platform for Local Government (DxP LG) in New Zealand.
The move will deliver faster, easier and more accessible services for residents, and builds on Whangārei’s strong track record of its first-to-market decisions aimed to deliver smarter, and more customer-centric services for its community. In 2017, Whangārei became the first New Zealand council to move to Software-as-a-Service (SaaS).
General Manager Corporate at Whangarei District Council, Alan Adcock said, “Our goal is to provide our community with a single source of truth that is up-to-date and accessible anytime, on any device. We became early adopters of DxP LG because we’d much rather help build the solution than discover problems later. Being listened to, and seeing our feedback reflected in future releases, gives us real confidence that every dollar we spend delivers value back to our community.”

The council says it is already seeing early benefits from DxP LG. By unifying internal and external knowledge bases, Customer Service staff can resolve queries faster and hold more meaningful conversations, while ratepayers can access clearer, more consistent information.
DxP LG has prompted the council to explore shifting its award-winning website to the new platform
“You don’t get the lightbulb by improving the candle. Our current website is excellent, but it isn’t going to scale to deliver the customer-first vision we’re aiming for. I think over time DxP LG will grow to replace the website, but right now they coexist, and we are able to work across them seamlessly,” Mr Adcock said.
New Zealand Country Manager at TechnologyOne, Ben Sheehan said, “Whangārei is Northland’s largest city with a strong track record of embracing new technology to deliver better services for its 56,000 plus residents.
“As one of the first councils in New Zealand to adopt DxP LG, they’re once again showing how digital platforms can transform the way residents interact with their council. We’re proud to continue our longstanding partnership and help shape the future of local government in New Zealand.”
