Make a date with 2022 NZ Police Dog calendar

The hugely popular New Zealand Police Dog Trust calendar for 2022 has been printed and you’d be barking mad not to get your paws on one.

Available to order now, this year’s calendar has a fresh new look to help showcase a bumper crop of veteran canine crimefighters, rookie fur recruits and some of the floofiest pups in town.

It includes 14 full-page feature photos and 26 smaller images of dedicated German shepherds and loyal labradors in a variety of operational and training environments.

There’s also a double-sided A3 poster featuring the calendar’s cover star ‘Faze’ enjoying his first taste of snow on one side, and young pup McClane modelling the anatomy of a floof on the other.

All the images this year are the work of forensic photographer and three-time ‘best picture’ winner, Senior Constable Jane Dunn.

Inspector Todd Southall, National Coordinator Police Dogs, says the Police Dog Trust Project Coordinators wanted to celebrate and acknowledge the amazing work and contribution Jane has made to the calendar over the past five years.

“Jane was overwhelmed when we advised her that this year was going to be her calendar,” says Todd.

“I am very grateful for Jane’s support and passion for our Police Dog Section and both myself and the project team love working with Jane and the incredible images she produces year on year.

“I also want to acknowledge all the staff involved in working with Jane to produce the photos for the calendar this year.”

Jane says she was a little nervous when she heard the calendar would be full of her images, but she’s passionate about the work the dogs and their handlers do.

“I love photographing them any chance I get,” says Jane.“I am so thankful to the handlers and trainers for allowing me to be involved and for the opportunity to capture images of them and their pups.

“Being able to photograph these majestic and noble animals, is a welcome reprieve from my forensic role that can be graphic and challenging.”

The calendar is $20 and available to pre-order now through the Cop Shop.

Money from sales of the calendar will go toward the New Zealand Police Dog Charitable Trust, which helps support Police dog breeding, research and development programmes, over and above New Zealand Police investment in the Police Dog Section.
