Wellington City Council will be shifting sand from Freyberg Beach to Oriental Bay next week as part of its biannual operation to maintain the size and shape of local beaches.
In a statement, the Council confirmed that the beaches will be closed from Tuesday 20 October to Thursday 22 October while the heavy machinery does the redistribution work, weather permitting.
“Signage will be up, and Council staff will be around to ensure public safety, and provide information and assistance if required,” the Council said.
